CO2 footprint
We take active measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful environmental effects. We are committed to preserving natural resources and shaping a sustainable future through the efficient use of resources and environmentally friendly practices.
* We are currently establishing a complete carbon accounting process for scope 3 emissions.
| Heating | 124,94 tCO2e • 47,48 % |
| Fuel and energy-related emissions | 72,28 tCO2e • 27,46 % |
| Vehicle fleet (combustion engines) | 54,32 tCO2e • 20,64 % |
| Vehicle fleet, electric | 5,04 tCO2e • 1,92 % |
| Air conditioning/cooling agents | 6,58 tCO2e • 2,50 % |
| Purchased electricity | 0,00 tCO2e • 0,00 % |
CO2 compensation - Hydropower project in Vietnam
As a manufacturing company, we inevitably emit CO₂ emissions, as it is not yet possible to produce our products completely CO₂-free. We have therefore decided to contribute to protecting our climate by offsetting scope 1 and 2 emissions generated at our site in the previous year. We support a United Nations hydropower project. More precisely, in the DakrLap district in the central highlands of Vietnam. Of course, we know that compensation alone cannot replace our efforts in reduction. We are therefore continuing to work on topics such as the roll-out of "Green Shop Floor Management" and the transition of our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
Reforestation of our forests since 2021
The forest is a real climate hero, because in Germany alone, our forests store around 62 million tonnes of CO₂ every year. At Insta, we recognised the importance of a sustainable corporate strategy years ago and since 2021, have already reforested around 5 hectares of our local forest, which had been destroyed by climate change and bark beetle infestation. In cooperation with our partner Planted, we are now going one step further by protecting 2.650 square metres of a large mixed forest in the Sauerland region near Kirchhundem. This area of forest will remain untouched in the coming years and may not be built on or utilised. In this way, we are protecting ten square metres of forest for every tonne of CO₂e that our company emits. Forests are our green lungs. They provide a habitat for many animal and plant species, store CO₂, filter the air and help to regulate our climate. We are particularly proud that through this campaign, we are also contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
Green Shopfloor Management
We are continuously working on improving our resource efficiency in electronics production. In shopfloor management, we integrate measures to sensitise employees to the economical use of resources and promote their own ideas for improvement. Since June 2023, we have been working closely with the Technical University of Darmstadt to continuously expand our shopfloor management. Analyses show that consumption data is seldom allocated to individual consumers according to cause. The project uses additional sensors to measure electricity, compressed air, water and nitrogen at critical points within our production chain in order to visualise consumption. Special key figures on resource efficiency make wastage transparent.
Electric mobility
We are converting our vehicle fleet and the delivery and service systems to utilise electric mobility. To this end, we are installing a high-performance, on-site charging infrastructure on the company premises - for pool vehicles, customer vehicles and employee vehicles. The aim is a seamless integration into our supply and service chain, a reduction in emissions and better air quality at our site. This changeover will happen gradually, with regular checks, optimisation of the charging infrastructure and monitoring of energy consumption. Advantages: calculable operating costs, lower maintenance costs, less noise and a sustainable supply chain.
