Insta presents product innovation
at Light + Building in Frankfurt

On the occasion of the international trade fair for lighting, electrical engineering, and home and building automation Light + Building in Frankfurt, Insta GmbH introduces its first product under the new brand AUTARIC. The fair takes place from March 3 to 8 at Messe Frankfurt. In Hall 11.VIA at stand B01 at the KNX National Germany stand, journalists and visitors can get a first impression of the product.

Under the name AUTARIC KNX Smart Grid Interface, the electronics company launches a smart solution to intelligently link heat pumps with PV systems, smart meters, and KNX. The device evaluates information about the energy balance of PV systems and smart meters from KNX (if available) and uses this data to control the operating modes of heat pumps via the standardized "SG Ready" interface.

Insta GmbH recently announced that a product line in the field of energy management will be developed and distributed under the new brand AUTARIC in the future. The products are aimed at homeowners as well as commercially active system integrators.

With the product innovation, the electronics specialist enters a new business field

"We are pleased to present the first AUTARIC product at Light + Building. The heat pump market is a growth market and a lever in achieving climate targets. The German government aims, among other things, to install at least 500,000 heat pumps annually from this year onwards. With AUTARIC, we are contributing our part by supporting homeowners and companies on their way to efficient and thus more sustainable resource management in decentralized energy generation," explains Alfred Vrieling, Managing Director of Insta GmbH, the expansion into a new business field.

"With the heating subsidy as part of the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (Bundesförderung für effiziente Gebäude or BEG), the conversion from a conventional gas or oil heating to an air heat pump becomes even more profitable for homeowners because they receive a state subsidy of up to 70 percent. Due to rising CO2 prices, gas and oil heating systems will become increasingly expensive to operate in the long term. This means that even though the initial costs of a heat pump are higher, consumers save money in the long term, especially if they also install the AUTARIC KNX Smart Grid Interface," adds Vrieling.

Direct connection to SG Ready interface

The product is designed for easy connection to the smart grid, which is made possible via the standardized "SG Ready" interface. The AUTARIC KNX Smart Grid Interface ensures that the heat pump is in operation precisely when it is most cost-effective for users, which ultimately means a reduction in energy costs in the long term. The AUTARIC KNX Smart Grid Interface is nominated for the German Innovation Award 2024 and the product is expected to be available from May.
